Ghadeer celebrations expand to ۴۰۰+ towns across Iran
The annual Eid al-Ghadeer festival in Tehran, stretching along Azadi and Enghelab streets for ۱۳.۵ kilometers, has become the largest Shi‘i public celebration worldwide, attracting over ۴.۵ million people this year. Alongside this, the popular Ramadan TV program “Mahfel” continues to promote Quranic culture, reaching hundreds of millions globally with its broadcasts and live public events, including large gatherings at Imam Reza’s shrine and Azadi Stadium.
The Grand Street Festival of Eid al-Ghadeer (The 10‑km Ghadeer Party)
In recent years, the Islamic Development Organization has worked to provide the necessary infrastructure and coordination with governmental bodies to host spectacular public celebrations. One prime example is Tehran’s 10‑kilometer Ghadeer party, held for the past three years, drawing massive crowds and standing as the largest religious festival of Eid al-Ghadeer—the most important Shi‘i holiday. This year it stretched along Azadi and Enghelab streets for 13.5 km, attracting over 4.5 million residents.
The Tehran event has inspired replication across Iran, with Ghadeer celebrations held in over 400 towns and villages last year, covering a total distance of 360 km.
